I was Ray's girlfriend in Richmond,Kentucky right before he went into the army - 1969 0r 1970. This is a real coincidence since I came across his "dogtags" yesterday. He may still be in Berea, KY.

My dad, Dennis Ackert, served with Co. B 1/7 Cavalry from 1969-1970. He has mentioned the following names as ones he remembers and would like to contact: Ray Towry, Bob Mullins, Dan Thorp, Dan Priest and Tom Henson. Please email me with any information regarding how to contact these people. Thank you!

What was the name of the Soldier (Hearns) in the photo? Is he the black guy on the end? My father was in B 1/5 Cav from JUL 65-JUN 66 in Vietnam. Just a interesting coincidence.

I don't remember the specifics of this photo, but I sure remember Hearns, Clark, and Hammock (whom I nicknamed "Babycakes," something I'm sure he'd just as soon forget). By the way, Larry McDowell, who arrived in Vietnam on the same day I did, was killed in action approximately one week later (which would have been around 1 September 1969). I was next to him when he died. As many of us can say, "it could have been me." Even though I hardly knew him, I think of him often. I believe he was from Philadelphia. I'd like to see his name added to the list of those from B 1/7 who died in action. I wonder where "Mad" John Lofton, Mike Henson, Hammock, Willie Andrews, "Butch," Don Peterson, and Barry Lawson are, among others. Thanks for the website!

Thanks to Joe Persaud who hosted the B/1/7 Cav reunion today at the 1st Cav Div (AM) Reunion. It was great seeing folks I hadn't seen in 35 years. Joe steered me to this wonderful website that Tom Considine runs. I really appreciate this photo of SFC Whitten, Platoon Sergeant of 1st Platoon, who broke me in as the Platoon Leader, starting 45 minutes after I got off the Log Bird when 1st Platoon, walking point, ran into a horseshoe ambush. SFC Whitten was an outstanding leader, and I was blessed to have him as my Platoon Sergeant. Does anyone know where he is today? Joe O'Connor

In Jan 70, I joined Squad Leader Dennis Ackert from Illinois(background), Dan Thorpe from Oregon(second from right), Bob Mullins from West Va, Elroy Stromeyer from New Orleans, Thomas Hearns, and Phillip Cobb. Soon after our experience in Cambodia, Agent Orange broke out on my back and the doctors took me to the rear (FB Mace) where I could take a shower in JULY 1970. I have lots of pictures to share and will start getting them together. Just retired from 100th Division Reserve as a Drill Instructor. Anyone can feel free to contact me at vendor1@alltel.net

Tom, I am very sure this photo is me. I know it's been 32 yrs. and I hope you remember me. I do remember you and many of the other people in these photos. I was 4th platoon leader until Lt. Mike ? was in the helicopter crash. I then became XO. I also have quite a few photos that I would be happy to share with you, particulaly since you are in some of them. Believe me it was quite a shock when I first saw this picture. I had to call my wife to confirm that it was me. I would love to hear from you and love to have a copy of this photo as well. Hope to hear from you soon. Tom

I was in country from July of '69 to July of '70. I was in 1st Platoon as a Squad Leader and ocassionally Platoon Sgt. when Whitten was otherwise occupied. My closest friends in 1st Platoon were Denny Sprenkel who finally got a rear job and then was killed by a random rocket the first time he ever drove the "Mule" to the PX, and Bob Cote who was killed 2 weeks before his DEROS day in Cambodia when one of our guys blew a tree that landed on Bob. I went to HQ at the end of my tour to help in Supply because the E-7 in Charge drank so much he was not very effective. They called me "Asst. Batallion Supply Sgt then." I would love to hear from anyone who remembers us. Marty

I was 4-6 mike in 4th Platoon. This picture appears to be from Quan Loi rear when LT Consedine might have been XO? Bob Kon informed me about this website and am interested in getting in touch with old close friends, especially those who served in the 4th platoon. Have photos I will send on. Thanks to all those who have put effort into the site. Bob
